Charley Bennett Sr., at age 85, has passed away peacefully and surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday 6:48pm, October 2, 2024, at USC Keck Medical Center in Los Angeles California.
Charley was born on November 17, 1938, in Couschatta Louisiana to Albert Otis Bennett & Ann Elizabeth Bennett. Charley was a 1956 graduate from John Quincy Adams High School in Louisiana. Charley married Delories Dukes in 1960 and from this union three sons were born Charley Jr., Darryl & Christopher. Charley worked as an Executive Chef for many years and when he shared his culinary expertise with his family and friends, Charley truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures like cooking, snacking, listening to all types of music and spending time with family and friends. On August 29, 1992, Charley was later remarried to Mary Ann Jackson and with her two sons Adam & Kareem Hundley, they had a wonderful, blended family life together.
Charley is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, his 3 sons, 2 stepsons, 2 of his 5 brothers (Richard & Roy Edward) 5 of his 8 sisters (Yvonne, Dorthy Gloria, Helen, Willie Sue) and host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Charley will most assuredly be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who knew him. Rest in Peace
