Obituary

Michael J. Hunter, 74, of Wilmington, passed away on August 18, 2025, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Wilmington on June 21, 1951.

Michael worked as a truck driver for Lucky’s and later as a longshoreman, but he was also known for his passion for photography, classic cars, and Harley motorcycles. He became a respected photographer in the lowrider and classic car community, capturing memories that meant so much to others. 

He loved sharing his work on Instagram, where he built a large following of fans. One of his proudest personal accomplishments was restoring his 1952 Chevy, which he finished shortly before his passing.

Michael was quick-witted, funny, and sarcastic, always ready with a comment that could make others laugh. He loved giving people a hard time in a playful and loving way. Friends and family knew they could count on him, as he was always willing to lend a hand whenever it was needed.

He is survived by his children, Colin Hunter, Sean Hunter, Marni Hunter, and Sarah Hunter; his many grandchildren; and his cousins Vongie, Ida, and Patsy.

Michael lived with passion and shared it freely with others, leaving behind memories that will last a lifetime.
