Abraham Acevedo Jr was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and passed away on January 14, 2026, in Inglewood, California.
Abraham lived life loudly and fully. He was a salsero, musician, tinkerer, inventor, boxer, gardener, and a proud father. He loved a day at the track, being at the beach, fishing, playing dominoes and poker, telling stories, and enjoying Puerto Rican food. Known jokingly as a professional plátanos stealer, Abraham brought humor and laughter wherever he went.
He worked as Chief Engineer at The Airport Park Hotel and The Marriott, and throughout his life also worked as a handyman, mechanic, and lifeguard.
Abraham had a great sense of humor and a big personality. He loved people and loved life. His proudest joy was his family, especially his children, grandchildren, his partner Sandra, and the time they spent together. He believed every Friday was his birthday and lived with that same celebratory spirit every day.
He is survived by his sisters Ernestine Garcia and Millagros Bonilla; his partner Sandra Lea Baker; his daughters Virginia Melrose, Caridad Acevedo, Bexzaida Lucero, and Josephine Acevedo; his son James Acevedo; and their mother Gladys Sylvia Acevedo; his grandchildren Jussine and Taina Melrose, Analyse and Lysana Angelini, James and Seth Acevedo, and Nicacio Gallardo; and his great grandchildren Julianna and Jaylani Acevedo, Joseph Abraham Cabal, Luciana and Mia Gallardo, and Gabriel Acevedo.
He was preceded in death by his parents Virginia and Abraham Acevedo; his sisters Irma Figueroa and Blanca Garcia; his brother Manuel Acevedo; his son Abraham Acevedo III; and his granddaughter Brittany Acevedo.
Abraham and his partner Sandra Baker shared an unbreakable love and looked forward to sharing the rest of their lives together, no matter the challenges. His legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on forever.
