Early Life:
Agapito, also known as “Pete” or “Pistol Pete” to close friends, was born on February 26, 1962, in Bulacan, Philippines, to Fernando Cabrera and Aldelaida Flores. He grew up in Santa Maria, Bulacan. He attended local school for a time before working to help his family. Pete is the 7th out of 12 children.
Education and Career:
Throughout all his careers, Agapito had built a strong work ethic that followed him wherever he went. At around age 26, Agapito moved to California with several relatives and held a variety of jobs, including working with a gardening and landscaping company and at Fedco as a warehouseman and stockroom clerk. However, the career that defined much of his working life was with Parsec, Inc., where he proudly served as a Driver, Groundman, and Contractor from 1997 until his retirement in 2019.
Family and Personal Life:
Agapito married Vilma in 2001, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and loud singing. They had three children together: Melanie, Carmela Marie, and Amari Jinelle Cabrera. No matter how difficult times were, family was the center of his world and he took pride in providing for and raising compassionate, responsible children.
Interests and Character:
Agapito had a deep love for sports, following multiple leagues, including the NBA, NFL, and MLB. His favorite teams of all time were the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Though he was firm and stubborn at times, his friends and family will always remember his quick humor, generous heart, and the stories he told of his youth.
Legacy:
Agapito is survived by his wife, children, and five siblings: Alejandro Cabrera, Ariel Cabrera, Maria Paz DeGuzman, Gloria Basa, and Riza Cabrera Khan.
We will miss him deeply, but take comfort knowing he’s lived and loved well.
Rest easy Dad, you’ve earned it.
