Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Anthony Ricardo Abrego.

Anthony was born at St. Bernardines' hospital in San Bernardino, California, on November 21, 1985, to Tessie Duran Abrego and Rick Lara Abrego.

He spent most of his childhood and teenage years in San Bernardino, whereas as a young boy he played soccer and baseball.

In 2006 at the age of 20, Anthony joined the U.S. Army.  He completed his basic training and was sent to Kuwait and later stationed on the state side in Virginia.  While in the service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He left the Army in 2010 and returned to San Bernardino.

Anthony was an avid football fan and specifically a fan of the Dallas Cowboys (and their cheerleaders too, of course).  He enjoyed barbequing and took pride in creating new and spicy recipes (as far as he was concerned, the hotter the better). He was also a gifted graphic artist.  He will always be remembered for his love of music and his catch phrase “you member”.

Anthony left this world from the same place he entered it, at St. Bernardine’s, on September 14, 2026.  He joins his much-loved mother Tessie, and both sets of grandparents.  He leaves behind his father, Rick Abrego, his sister Brittany Kennedy, nephews, niece and many, many, aunts, uncles and cousins.

His final resting place will be Riverside National Cemetery.
