Anthony Paul Galván passed away on July 8, 2026, at the age of 75, leaving behind a life filled with music, creativity, humor, and a deep love for the people he considered family.
Tony was born on August 23, 1950, in Fresno, California, to Ophelia Larios-Galvan. His early years were shaped by struggle and uncertainty. Although his childhood was not easy, those experiences helped form the complicated, thoughtful, observant, and deeply feeling person he would become.

Tony did not always express himself in expected ways, but those who knew him understood that he felt things deeply. He could be private and independent, sometimes preferring the comfort of home to social gatherings, but he never stopped caring about the people in his life.

Music and concerts were among Tony’s greatest loves. Music was more than entertainment to him; it was a way of understanding the world, connecting with others, and expressing the parts of himself that were difficult to put into words. It remained a constant companion throughout his life and became one of the many gifts he passed on to his family.

Tony had a strong appreciation for imagination, art, and creativity. He encouraged the people he loved to explore their interests, create things, and see the world differently. He had a remarkable ability to notice what made someone unique. When he gave a gift, it was often something carefully chosen because he had listened, remembered, and understood what would make that person feel seen.

He was generous in ways both large and small. He was willing to share what he had, offer advice, help someone pursue an interest, or surprise a loved one with something meaningful. His generosity was rarely announced, but it left a lasting impression on those who received it. The people he cared about remained in his thoughts. He carried many friendships and memories with him, including those of people he had hoped to reconnect with. His life can be measured by the people he loved, the lessons he taught, and the stories that will continue to be told.

For approximately thirty years, Tony shared a home and daily life with his son, Don-Anthony, his daughter-in-law, and, eventually, his grandchildren. Their years together were filled with challenges, laughter, creativity, music, stories, and a bond that cannot be fully captured in words. He was a beloved and wonderful brother to his sister Jennie, her husband David, uncle to their children Jeanine and David , and great-uncle to Alex & Andrew Rivas, and David & Santana Garcia.

He was also loved as one of the family by Doniela and Rick Zoglemann, as well as Don Derald Abril.

Tony is survived by his son, Don-Anthony Galvan; his daughter-in-law, Raquel; and his beloved grandchildren, Jaedon Rain, Joei-Lynn, and Jakob Jett, who will continue to carry his memory forward.

He is also survived by his sister, Jennie Garcia, and brother-in-law, David Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandy Larios and Barbie Benavente as well as his great-nephew Andrew Rivas. 

Tony held a lasting place in his heart for his sister, Sonia Larios, and his brother, Robert Benavente with whom he lost contact.

Tony will be remembered as a father, grandfather, brother, friend, gift-giver, and the unforgettable character known as “Bushes Galvan.” To those closest to him, he was more than the sum of his struggles. He was a man who endured, loved in his own way, and left an unmistakable mark on the people around him.

His journey was not ordinary, and neither was his legacy.

A memorial gathering honoring Tony’s life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Mitla's  Cafe, 602 North Mount Vernon Avenue, San Bernardino, California 92411.

A small ceremony will begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by dinner. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, listen to the music he loved, and celebrate the journey of a lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions toward memorial expenses. Any funds remaining after those expenses will be donated to a local music program serving at-risk youth in Tony’s honor.
