Bonnie Hultgren Jeffers was born on July 15, 1956 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Glenn Hultgren and Mae MaryLou Hultgren. She is survived by her husband, James Jeffers; her mother, M. Marylou Hultgren; her siblings: Robert (Marsha), Barry (Cynthia) and Beth (Warren Jordan, deceased; Randy Bruxvoort); and 10 nieces and nephews and 7 grand nieces and nephews.

Bonnie attended schools in Fort Collins, Colorado, graduating from Fort Collins High School in 1974. She then moved to Southern California to attend Biola University. While at Biola, she met Jim Jeffers and married him two years later on August 5, 1977. They moved to Portland, Oregon, so that Jim could attend seminary. In 1980, Bonnie accompanied Jim to his position as Assistant Pastor in Lake Arrowhead, California. In 1983, they returned to Los Angeles where Jim began a Ph.D. program at the University of California, Irvine.

During this time, Bonnie helped support the family financially. She also returned to college where she earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in Communication at California State University, Fullerton. After completing her education, she taught Business Communication at Mount San Antonio Community College in Walnut, California, for 25 years.

Bonnie was deeply involved in a variety of volunteer activities. She donated time to the ministries of her church, notably providing gifts to the children of prisoners through Project Angel Tree. She truly had the gift of hospitality and hosted many events at her home from fundraisers to support missionaries to Super Bowl parties. When she and Jim downsized their home by moving to the Trilogy at Glen Ivy community in Temescal Valley, she began organizing events in the various public rooms at Trilogy. She led her church at Trilogy, Hillside Fellowship, to help Samaritan's Purse to provide gift boxes for needy children around the world through the Christmas Shoebox ministry. She dearly loved to organize "Hymn Sings" for the church and community and to share dramatic stories behind the hymns. Bonnie took part in many groups and activities at Trilogy, including Ladies' Billiards, Aqua Aerobics, and Bunco Night.

Bonnie volunteered with the Inland Valley Humane Society to help find homes for shelter animals. When she learned of the plight of former racing Greyhounds, she and Jim began fostering them in their home and preparing them for life in retirement. Bonnie and Jim would go on to foster more than 100 Greyhounds over the next 20-plus years. Bonnie would eventually write a book about her experiences, Meditation Moments With God and My Dog. She completed a Certificate program in Animal Behavior and became the behaviorist for GreySave, her Greyhound adoption group.

Faith in her Savior Jesus Christ kept Bonnie well-grounded, joyful, and positive as she valiantly battled a progressive cancer her final two years .
