With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Charles Todd Norwood, who died September 18, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was 63.
A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75254, on October 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Charles Todd Norwood, a sixth-generation Texan, chef, musician, and devoted friend, was born July 27, 1963, in Longview, Texas. He graduated from Longview High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma and served as president of the fraternity. He later completed a master’s degree at AIU in London, England.
He worked in information technology at Experian and Computer Sciences Corporation before later pursuing his love of food as a chef. Those who knew him best remembered him first as a gifted cook and host. He loved preparing elaborate meals and entertaining guests, and he spoke often and at length about the friendships that meant so much to him.
Music was another of his great gifts. Todd was a talented pianist and organist who loved playing and singing at First United Methodist Church in Longview. In Dallas he attended the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, where he also volunteered. He loved to travel and visited France, Spain, Italy, and England. Over the years he lived outside Texas in Alabama, Chicago, and San Francisco before returning home.
A lifelong fan, Todd always followed and supported the Longview Lobos, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Dallas Stars. He attended the Cowboys’ Super Bowl in 1993 and the Longview Lobos State Championship.
A proud Texan, he enjoyed tracing family history and genealogy and looked forward to family reunions in Corsicana.
Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Elinor Norwood and Sidney George Smith and Eloise Smith Powell; his grandfather, “Pa” Clair Powell; his father, Charles Norwood; and his uncles, David Norwood and Ken Norwood.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra; his sister, Lauri; his brother, Brent, and Brent’s wife, Amy; his niece, Ansley; his nephew, Layton; his aunt, Mary Norwood; and his cousins, David Norwood and Meredith Norwood Neal.
Todd will be remembered for his warmth at the table, his music, his stories of friends and family, and the care he took in knowing where he came from.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the food pantry of Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration at Give - Church of the Transfiguration, or the Judge Alvin Khoury Lobo football scholarship at Longview High School.
