D’Angelo David Decou, of Los Angeles, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 36. Born June 28, 1989, he was the son of Arthur Joseph Decou Jr. and Betty Sheree Decou, and the brother of Tesenau Sheree Fitzgerald, Arthur Joseph Decou III, and Ashley Decou.
D’Angelo lived with a big personality and an even bigger love for the things that brought him joy. He filled his days with music—often loud—whether it was the raw energy of Eminem and Kid Rock or the timeless soul of Motown. He often said, “I don’t dance—I boogie.” A lifelong fan of Stone Cold Steve Austin, he also found joy in movies, able to recite long scenes from Pulp Fiction or Menace II Society. Sometimes he wove film lines into conversations so seamlessly that only his quick smile gave him away.
He loved to reminisce, to laugh, and to share himself with others. Even when he had little, he gave generously. His humor and warmth drew people in, though he could also be difficult and at times defensive—often a reflection of the deep longing within him to feel safe and free to live his life.
D’Angelo believed in Jesus, prayed often, and blessed those around him with his words, even while carrying struggles that were hard to reconcile with his faith. He lived with contradictions, yet also with authenticity, and those who knew him will remember both his complexity and his heart.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who shared in his laughter, his music, and his stories.
