David Grogan was born in Los Angeles, California, and passed away on December 30, 2025, in Escondido, California.

David was a quiet, kind, and dependable man with a dry sense of humor. He was known for being punctual and often arrived at least fifteen minutes early to events. In recent years, Disneyland became one of his greatest joys. For nearly the last ten years of his life, he held an annual pass and loved spending time there “people watching.” Music was another lifelong passion. He loved rock, blues, and jazz, and performed as an electric bass guitar player in several bands for approximately ten years.

David had a deep interest in wildlife, especially ocean animals, and enjoyed visiting the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in his hometown of Escondido. He loved camping and star gazing in the desert, particularly in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. He also enjoyed reading books and National Geographic magazine. As a young boy, David was a Boy Scout, played Little League baseball, collected baseball cards, and enjoyed playing the board game Stratego.

David worked for approximately 30 to 40 years as an Apartment Maintenance Manager for large apartment complexes throughout North San Diego County. He retired in June 2025 on his birthday. One of his proudest accomplishments was hiking the Mount Manuel Trail in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park at the age of 15. The hike was 9.3 miles with a challenging 3,000 foot elevation climb.

David is survived by his sisters, Ardyce Grogan and Marla Medina. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Grogan, and his mother, Virginia Grogan.

David will be remembered for his gentle nature, quiet reliability, and the simple joys he found in music, nature, and observing the world around him.
