David Guenett
Obituary

David Guenett passed away on August 12, 2026, in Long Beach, California, from sepsis. He was born on January 28, 1953, in Owen Sound, Canada.

David had a lifelong passion for music. He was a guitarist, singer, and songwriter who found joy in creating and sharing music. He also enjoyed classic movies, especially film noir, Humphrey Bogart, Alfred Hitchcock, The Thin Man & Marx Brothers. He loved the Coen brothers films  

Throughout his working life, David was a musician, worked at Music Plus record store, where he met Patty Mitchell, and later worked in home electronics sales, including Leo’s Stereo.

Those who knew David will remember him as intelligent, political, opinionated, clever, and fun, with a good sense of humor. He was proud of saving Patty's life after the loss of their only child, Lucas in September 2010.

David would want to be remembered as the unique individual he was, someone who was loved and respected.and had a deep love and dedication to Patty, and the cats he cared for: Maurice, Blackjack, Toonces, King, Kong, Chief, Scout, Bella & Luna.

He is survived by Patty Mitchell, and his brothers, Rick and Drew. He was preceded in death by his son, Lucas Mitchell-Guenett.

David will be remembered for his love of music, his wit, his devotion to those he loved, and the unique person he was. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
