Doris Lousise Velar was born on February 27, 1935 in Tifton, Georgia. She was the eldest and only daughter of the late Beatrice Bryant and Jack Thomas Bush Sr.

In June of 1949, Doris and the family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System. Although the eldest, Doris was doted on by her mom and dad, and treated like a princess by her younger brothers, Tom and Chuck. After graduating high school, Doris would become the princess of her late husband, Rudy Velar. Doris and Rudy moved to Los Angeles, California where they would remain married for 48 years before his passing. Doris loved the mild Los Angeles weather and remained a permanent resident until her passing.

Doris was easy to love. She had a sweet, fun-loving and gentle spirit, always generous and always smiling. Her beautiful smile and warm presence lit up a room and made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She was passionate about sewing, caring for children, crocheting and cherishing her family. She devoted many years as the director and owner of a child care facility, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives.

She was an incredible seamstress and took great pride in her craft. Doris loved her family deeply and carried a heart of gold for everyone who knew her, always willing to help anyone in need. Her love for the Lord guided her life, and her kindness will forever be remembered.

Doris is survived by her nieces Charita Bush, Kim Williams, Renee Bush and Beatrice Bush, and her nephews Jack Bush, Eric Bush, Sean Bush and Jeremy Bush, and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Beatrice Bush, her husband of 48 years Rudy Velar, her brothers Thomas Bush and Charles Bush and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Aunt Doris will be greatly missed and remembered with gratitude and love for the joy and light she brought into the lives of so many.
