Duong Hoang “Lien” was born in Vietnam in 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Quyen, her sons, Doly and Sang; her daughter, Kiu, and her husband, Alphonzo Eugene Edwards.
Lien was known for her amazing culinary skills and her love of entertaining. She enjoyed gathering friends and family every weekend, sharing her warmth and affection through the meals she lovingly prepared.
Lien was the proud mother of seven children—five biological and two whom she lovingly welcomed into her family. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s and married Alphonzo Eugene Edwards and laid down roots in Oklahoma City. Together, they had two children, daughter, Cam Van Edwards and son, Doly Edwards.
Lien worked for more than 25 years at Lucent Technologies in Oklahoma City before retiring in the early 2000s. During her retirement, she often traveled back to Vietnam to spend time with loved ones, while also splitting her time between Dallas and Oklahoma City.
Well known within the Vietnamese community, Lien was cherished for her kindness and devotion to family. She deeply loved her brothers and sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and she spent her life caring for those around her. A Buddhist by faith, she lived each day guided by peace, compassion, and love.
In her later years, Lien lived with her daughter, Cam Van (Brant), and her son, Doly. She transitioned from this life peacefully and will be remembered for her generous spirit, her unwavering love for family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
