Emanuel Everett Fernandez IV , "Sonny", passed away peacefully June 22, 2026 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was 66 years old.
Sonny was born November 22, 1959 in Houston, Texas to Kaye and Everett Fernandez. He is survived by: Mother Kaye Hicks, Sisters Pandora Eggleston of Arizona and Andrea Holland of Oklahoma, Brothers Anthony and Michael Fernandisse , Niece Destiny Fernandisse of Texas. Beloved Daughter Amanda Ross and Grandchildren Chandler, Nicolas , Kaylee and Keegan Ross of North Carolina, Aunt Robbie Dickerson, Cousins Kim Snyder and Krisanne Varisco of Texas and many other extended family members and their children.
Sonny also leaves six beloved Step-Daughters Jami, Jessie, Kelsey, Mackenzie, Abbie, Ashley and their treasured children in Oklahoma. His friends are too many to count and are spread across the country.
Sonny grew up in Galveston, Texas where he attended Galveston College, learned construction by working in the industry and helping build skyscrapers and a nuclear facility in the Houston area. After a year in California, he moved to Oklahoma, where his love of cars lead him to dealership employment and the OSU Institute of Technology . He became a master mechanic and spent 25 years there.
Heart disease changed his career direction and led him to Arizona and learning computer technology at Scottsdale College. He made good friends everywhere he went and never stopped helping people. Again, health issues changed his path and he joined Home Depot where his vast knowledge fit well.
Sonny understood the mechanics of how things work and could usually fix or diagnose anything man made. More importantly, he had a heart for people, especially those who needed help. He was the guy who showed up with a solution when trouble came along.
Sonny walked with a spring to his step, a bounce to his personality, and a head full of knowledge.
He left an echo of kindness that remains after his passing and calls the rest of us to help others when the time comes.
