Franklin (Frank) Delano Strier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed professor, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025. Frank lived a remarkable life that spanned 81 years, during which he touched the hearts of many with his wisdom, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
Frank's professional journey was marked by his passion for education and law. For the majority of his career, he served as a dedicated professor at California State University Dominguez Hills where he was named Outstanding College Professor and also received the Hyundai Business Professor of the year award. He also held the position of editor of the Journal of Business and Management. Prior to his teaching career, Frank was a practicing attorney, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a senior policy analyst with the U.S. Department of Commerce. His extensive body of work includes two published books and numerous articles in esteemed journals such as the ABA Journal, Judicature, the American Journal of Forensic Psychiatry, and The Humanist.
Frank was a man of many interests. He was passionate about teaching and writing, but his true joy came from spending time with his family, caring for animals, and watching NBA games, particularly relishing the exciting era of the 1980s “Showtime” led by Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. His insatiable curiosity drove him to research various subjects, resulting in media appearances discussing jury reform during the highly publicized O.J. Simpson trial, and more recently, exploring the dangers of childhood gun violence through an eBook. One of his favorite accomplishments was a 700-page fiction book that humorously portrayed the life of a college professor, showcasing his ability to find joy and humor in everyday life.
Known for his quick wit and an impressive vocabulary that rivaled the best thesaurus, Frank had a unique ability to connect with others. He earned the affectionate title of "animal whisperer," sharing his home with many rescue dogs alongside his beloved wife Patricia.
Frank cherished his family above all. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Pat) Strier, with whom he shared 50 beautiful years of life, 43 of those as a married couple. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and support. He is also survived by his two children, Zachary Strier and his wife Kristy, Casey Sherman and her husband Jason, and his two precious grandchildren, August Sherman and the newest addition to the Strier family, due in February 2026, who is sure to carry on all the best attributes of the Strier name.
In recognition of Frank's wishes, only a private remembrance was held. Instead, the family invites those who wish to commemorate his legacy to consider donating to Wags & Walks animal shelter (Memorials — Wags and Walks) or Habitat for Humanity (Donations - Habitat For Humanity of Greater Los Angeles).
