Gregory A. Ringelstetter, 59, of Oak Harbor, WA passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026 surrounded by loved ones after a months-long battle with cancer. Born July 13, 1966, in Madison, Wisconsin to Richard Ringelstetter and Mary Ann Annen, Greg enjoyed a childhood full of fishing, hunting, tinkering, camping, cousins, snowmobiling, telling stories, and goofing off.

Not one to care much about traditional schooling, he joined the US Navy upon graduation from Sun Prairie HS in 1984. He started his career as an aviation mechanic working on the EA-6B Prowler and served tours of duty on three aircraft carriers: USS Ranger, USS America, and USS Carl Vinson, achieving the highest enlisted rank of Chief Petty Officer at NAS Whidbey Island.

Greg retired from the Navy in 2006 after 21 years and returned to Wisconsin for a brief stint until Puget Sound called him back. Greg earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Human Resources Management and continued working as a contracted civilian maintenance supervisor for the EA-18G Growler aircraft until recently. An avid fisherman, Greg spent many hours on his boat honing his storytelling skills and hanging out with friends, fishing poles, pods of orcas, and the sea.

He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Suzi (Schweitzer) Ringelstetter and their three adult children Tyler, Tyson, and Peyton, along with Greg’s oldest son Jeromy Williams of Spokane; two adorable grandchildren, Theodore and Evelyn; his mother Mary Ann of Sun Prairie, WI; father Richard in memory care; sisters Patricia (Eric) Detrich of Austin, TX and Kristie Ringelstetter of Lansing, IA; parents-in-law Jan and Mary Schweitzer and brother-in-law Mike (Debbie Sero) Schweitzer, all of Lansing; six nieces and nephews; and many, many friends far and wide.

Greg was everything to his family, and he will be forever missed. The family will host Celebration of Life services in Oak Harbor and Sun Prairie at later dates.
