Hazel Eleanor Brown, 87, was born on October 25, 1938, in Compton, CA, and passed away peacefully in Fountain Valley, CA, on June 2, 2026, after her journey with dementia and congestive heart failure. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments.

She spent much of her early life in Northern Utah and San Diego raising her children before settling in Fountain Valley.

Hazel married LeVerne “Vern” Brown on December 30, 1980. Together, they shared more than 50 years of love, life, memories, and devotion.

Hazel was the loving mother of Debra Waits and Sandra Fuit, and the devoted grandmother who lovingly raised Ann Brown as her own daughter. She was stepmother to Kathy, Vern, and Dawn, grandmother to 16 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 24 great-grandchildren. She was also a loyal friend to many.

Her favorite thing in life was her children and grandchildren, especially the babies. She loved being present for them and enjoyed attending their sporting events, recitals, and concerts.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Gregory Fuit and Bret Fuit; her grandson, Christopher Fuit; and her sisters, Janet Thompson and Patricia Luke.

Hazel worked in various secretary positions throughout her life, but for the last 45 years, she devoted herself to being a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and craft projects.

Hazel was an animal lover and especially loved Shelties, a breed she loved since childhood and later bred because of her deep love for them. She had many dogs throughout her life and loved them like family.

She was involved with Parents of Murdered Children and was a strong advocate for victims’ rights. Hazel was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was very involved with Job’s Daughters Bethel 290 and served as a council member for many years.

In retirement, Hazel and Vern traveled for many years in their motorhome, visiting all 48 adjoining states. With a cruise to Alaska and a trip to Hawaii, they completed their goal of visiting all 50 states.

We take comfort in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with her boys, sisters, and parents, whom she missed so deeply. We know they ran to greet her with open arms at Heaven’s gates.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services held.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
