Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Irene Raquel Burton, who left this world on February 23, 2026, surrounded by family and love.

Raquel was born in El Paso, Texas, on May 9, 1950. She spent most of her life in the El Paso area and completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Sul Ross State University. She lived a life rooted in faith, devotion to family, and a deep commitment to helping others.

Raquel was known for her servant’s heart and unwavering belief in God. She approached life with kindness, generosity, and compassion, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her faith guided her daily actions and was evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Raquel’s generous spirit was an inspiration to many, along with her countless volunteer efforts throughout the Southwest and Mexico.

She is survived by her beloved children, daughter Monica Williams Robinson, and son Aaron Andrew Burton; and her cherished grandchildren, Tiah, Matthew, Andrew, and Jamie. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment, and she found her deepest happiness in loving and supporting them.

Raquel will be remembered for her gentle strength and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service celebrating Raquel’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 10:00 am at Coronado Baptist Church located at 501

Thunderbird Drive, El Paso, TX 79912.  Family and friends are invited to attend and honor her memory.
