Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, James "Jim" Mucci, after a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jim graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1968, served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, and later earned his Executive MBA from Pepperdine University. After living in Honolulu and the San Francisco Bay Area, he settled in Los Alamitos, California, in 1976, where he spent the next fifty years building a life centered on family, service, and community.

Jim enjoyed a successful career as an executive in the global freight and logistics industry before beginning a second career as an Adjunct Professor at Long Beach City College. For more than twenty years, he inspired thousands of students and created internship and mentoring opportunities that helped launch countless careers. Through his leadership of the Global Intern Collaborative, he expanded educational and professional opportunities for students across the country.

One accomplishment that brought Jim tremendous pride was recently becoming an Italian citizen, fulfilling a lifelong dream and reconnecting with his family's heritage.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim was known for his passion for youth sports. Whether coaching or cheering from the sidelines, he devoted countless hours to young athletes throughout Los Alamitos and San Diego, teaching lessons that extended far beyond the playing field.

Jim is survived by his wife, Grace; his sister, Judy Davis; his son, Adam; his daughter-in-law, Felicia; and his granddaughters, Payton and Sydney. He will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, curiosity, and steadfast belief in the potential of others. Jim touched countless lives through his mentorship, kindness, and dedication to helping others succeed. His memory will live on in the students he inspired, the athletes he coached, the friends he cherished, and the family who loved him dearly.
