Jennifer “Sissy” Owens, born October 19, 1968, in Arlington, Texas, passed away in Dallas, Texas on April 21, 2026, at the age of 57. Her passing leaves a space in our lives that can never be filled, but the love, laughter, and memories she gave us will remain forever.

Sissy found joy in life’s simplest moments—swimming, soaking up the sun, watching movies, and being the life of the party at family poker nights. Being surrounded by the people she loved meant everything to her.

She will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her playful silliness, and her strong, stubborn side that showed up when it mattered most. She was a fighter. Resilient, fiercely protective, and deeply devoted to those she loved. A natural comedian, she had a sense of humor that will never be matched, and her antics always left everyone laughing. Sissy loved a good practical joke and was often just as willing to be the target of one. She had a warmth that drew people in and a rare ability to bring others together. She taught us what it meant to be kind, caring, and to find the positives in life. She was truly one of a kind.

More than anything, Sissy loved her family. Her two daughters meant the world to her, and she carried immense pride and unconditional love for them.

She is survived by her parents, Paul and Mary Owens; her daughters, Stephanie Cornell and her husband AJ, and Erica Esquivel and her husband Jeffery; her grandsons, Trevor Cornell, Tyler Cornell, Ethan Stout, and Elijah Stout; her siblings, Nathan Owens and his wife Sandra; Aaron Owens and his wife Janie; Heather Burris and her husband Justin; Matthew Owens and his wife Kristy; Audra Owens and her husband Jose; and Emily Owens and her husband Billy; as well as 18 nieces and nephews and 6 great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Doris Meyer, and Paul and Lela Owens, and her nephew, Joshua Owens.

Sissy lived her life with heart. Loving deeply, laughing often, and always doing things her own way. We will miss her more than words can ever express, but we will carry her with us in every story, every laugh, and every memory we share.

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In your presence there is fullness of joy.” — Psalm 16:11
