Jerri Samuels, aged 72, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025. She was born on February 20, 1953, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Samuel and Lenora Spear.
A beloved mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, Jerri was known for her feisty spirit, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering strength as a protector and provider. Never one to mince words, her frank and forthright nature was tempered by a heart full of love and care for her loved ones. Jerri brought joy and warmth to everyone she met, carrying with her a vibrant spirit that will be sorely missed.
Jerri was a diligent worker who dedicated her career to the legal field. She served as a Legal Secretary at Meserve, Mumper, and Hughes, where she was respected for her meticulous attention to detail and her commitment to her work. Outside of her professional life, Jerri had an unwavering faith, being a devoted member of the West Angeles Church of God in Christ. She also spent countless hours volunteering for NAMI.
Jerri was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Spear, her sister, Rebecca Mize, and her parents, Samuel and Lenora Spear. She is survived by her son, Tyrone Spear, her sister, Cheryl Williams, her brother, Elton Spear, and a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
Jerri's love for life was not just confined to her family and work. She was a gun enthusiast, who believed in the right of self-protection. Her spirit and zest for life were infectious, and she left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
At her request, a Margarita and Memories Celebration will be held in Jerri's honor on December 13, 2025. The family invites all who knew and loved Jerri to gather, share stories, and raise a glass in tribute to a life well-lived. Further details of the service arrangements will be shared in due course.
