Joe Henry “Hank” Gomez was called home to be with our Lord on July 8, 2026. He was born on April 25, 1933 in Dallas, Texas. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Henry and Charlotte Gomez and a brother, Juvey R. Gomez.

Joe is survived by one brother, Johnny, and two sisters, Mona L. and Sonya Y. Gomez. Joe also leaves behind one son and two daughters. Joe loved his country, and he never marched or demanded his country owed him anything. When his country called he didn’t hesitate. He answered as had his father, his brother, and his uncles, who were all veterans of war.

Joe attended Crozier Tec. High School. With a sense of urgency, he enlisted in the Navy on August 13, 1952, and did his basic training at Treasure Island, California. He knew that after basic training he could be sent anywhere. Joe loved his country and was willing to give it his All.

After his discharge from the Navy on March 17,1955, he joined the V.F.W. where his father was commander. One evening on an especially busy night, the bartender—a friend of Joe’s, asked if he would like to help behind the bar. He did, and that would be the start of a career that would last a lifetime.

Joe was a hard worker and lived a quiet and unassuming life. He served his country in a time of war and will be greatly missed.
