Obituary

Joseph McCarthy passed away on August 23, 2026, at Southern California Hospital in Los Angeles, California, following cardiac arrest. He was born on October 25, 1956, in Methuen, Massachusetts.

Joe will be remembered as a kind and sociable man with a wonderful sense of humor. 

He found joy in reading and writing, and he especially loved hiking in the beautiful landscapes of Vermont.

Professionally, Joe worked as an Operations Officer for First Vermont Bank. He was also proud of his academic accomplishments, graduating from Middlebury College in 1978 and later attending the University of Vermont.

Above all, Joe would want to be remembered as a good friend, someone who valued the people in his life and appreciated the connections he made along the way.

Joe is survived by his brother, Christopher McCarthy; his sister-in-law, Sandra McCarthy; and his nephew, Andrew McCarthy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen McCarthy; his father, Edward McCarthy; and his brother, Edward McCarthy.

Joseph McCarthy will be remembered with love and gratitude by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Glendale City Church, 234 N. Isabel St., Glendale, CA 91206.
