It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Joshua Smith, at the age of 31.

Joshua was born on December 7, 1994, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He had an adventurous spirit and embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He loved spending time playing video games, watching movies, and reading. He had recently been pursuing his goal of becoming a firefighter—a career that reflected his desire to help others.

Joshua will be remembered for his infectious smile, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. His jokes could brighten a room, and his passion for knowledge and life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

We shared a bond that words can hardly describe, filled with laughter, shrek dances, late-night talks, sneaky snack runs, Matrix references, and endless support. He was our protector and our partner in crime. He will never be forgotten and carried each day with all of us.

Joshua is survived by his parents,
Dawn Marshall and Jeffery Smith;
his sisters, Jasmine Smith, Jessica Jaramillo, Nichole Smith, and Tabitha Smith, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

A memorial service to celebrate Joshua’s life will be held at later date after he’s brought home.
Family and friends will be invited to gather to share memories, honor his life, and celebrate the impact he had on those who loved him.
