Obituary

Julio Antonio Matos peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family while at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center on August 18th, 2025, at only 63 years of age.

Born in Bronx, New York on July 23rd, 1962, Julio was raised in Los Angeles, California where his family relocated in 1964. He attended Fillmore Elementary, Charles Maclay Jr. High and was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School.

His interests growing up included sports, film and music. Julio taught himself to become an accomplished guitarist and singer. He would eventually graduate from Pierce College with an associate’s degree in child development. Later while employed at Universal Studios, Julio would eventually meet the woman who would become his wife, Lynda, and would raise three beautiful children, Andrew, Nikolas and Julia.

Julio had many professions throughout his life, but found his true calling as a very successful Arborist. Educating himself through the required courses and exams, Julio would earn his official certifications and open his own company, The Tree Dr. TLC, serving many elite clientele as well as fulfilling contracts from the state of California in the recovery of wooded areas following wildfires.

Julio took an active role in the lives of his grandchildren, Vincent & Mia, by creating countless memories on a number of adventures in the family RV, introducing them to his love of cycling and hiking, and being a heavy inspiration in their lives.

Julio’s memory will live on in the hearts of his children Andrew, Nikolas (Samantha) & Julia, grandchildren Vincent & Mia, sisters Maritza & Maribel (Scott), Aunt Hilda & Cousin Gia, nephews Dane, Jensen, K.J., Kaleb & niece Nikole and very special friends Angie Barajas and family.

Julio has been reunited in heaven with his father, Julio Sr., his mother, Esther, and wife, Lynda.
