Justin Michael Atkinson
Obituary

Justin was born on April 1, 1977 at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica.  Later that year, his parents, John and Susan Atkinson, moved to Riverside, and in 1979 his sister Erin was born.  

Justin attended Harrison and Emerson Elementary Schools, Gage Middle School, and Poly High School.  He played in Arlington Little League, Victoria Pony League and AYSO Soccer for many years.  Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy.  He was an Aerographer’s Mate on the USS Constellation Aircraft Carrier for two WESTPAC deployments.  While still in the Navy, he married Celina Cedillo of Riverside in 1998.  They first lived in Chula Vista and then in Salinas and Seaside while he was stationed at the Monterey Naval Base.  In 2003 their first daughter Angela was born.  After seven years in the Navy, Justin received an honorable discharge, and the new family moved back to Riverside. He graduated from truck driving school and worked for Werner and then Stater Bros. Markets, where he delivered groceries throughout Southern California and also represented the Navy on the company’s honor guard.  Their second daughter Sarah was born in 2007, and their son Robert was born in 2008. For the past 18 years, they have lived in Moreno Valley. In his spare time, Justin enjoyed being a referee for soccer, playing tennis and soccer, coaching his children’s soccer teams, playing tabletop games, and beating everyone at trivia.  

Justin is survived by his wife Celina, his daughters Angela and Sarah, his son Robert, his parents John and Susan Atkinson, his sister Erin Satkofsky (Nolan), and his nieces Emily Nelson and Caitlyn Nelson.  He will be forever loved and missed by his family, his extended family, and his friends. 

His memorial will be at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, CA 92518 Monday, September 28, 2026 at 2:15 PM Reception following immediately after at the home of John and Susan Atkinson 1524 Bellefontaine Dr. Riverside, CA 92506
