Keith Charles Spaulding was born in Springfield, Vermont, and passed away on December 25, 2025, while aboard a Holland America cruise ship due to heart failure.
Keith lived a full and adventurous life. He had a deep love for sailing, cruising, and traveling, enjoying many trips throughout the United States and abroad. Known by many as “Captain Keith,” he earned numerous awards for his sailing and racing accomplishments. He also enjoyed computers, shooting, cooking, and in recent years, collecting art. Keith took great pride in his retirement home in Punta Gorda, Florida, where he enjoyed decorating and embracing a life well lived.
Keith worked for many years at Stone and Webster Engineering in Boston, Massachusetts, where he served as a Lead Senior Designer in Nuclear Power as a Mechanical Engineer. His career took him across the country and around the world until his retirement in 2016.
Social, steady, and strong, Keith loved being surrounded by friends and family and always enjoyed a good time. He would want to be remembered for his love of life, his passion for sailing, and the warmth he shared with those around him.
Keith is survived by his wife, Nellie Riley-Spaulding; his sons, Ed Spaulding and Jeremy Spaulding; and his daughter, Shalon Spaulding-Noone. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Spaulding; his father, Henry Spaulding; and his sister, Celia Taylor.
Memorial service information will be shared at a later time.
Keith will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
