Lanette Irene Booker, 59, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at 1:58 p.m. in the Comfort Care Unit at Kaiser Permanente in Downey, California, in the room her family lovingly called “the penthouse.” She would have celebrated her 60th birthday on March 18, 2026.

Lanette was born and raised in Los Angeles County, spending most of her younger years in Gardena, California. Over the years she also made her home in Bellflower and Norwalk. She pursued training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, but her true passion and love language was cooking. Lanette found joy in feeding the people she loved, baking for holidays, and bringing family together around the table. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, a time when her gifts in the kitchen and her spirit of generosity shined brightest.

Lanette was also creative at heart. She loved drawing, arts and crafts, and anything filled with color. She had a green thumb, loved animals and sea life, and could often be found watching the Animal Channel. The ocean held a special place in her heart. She was a true beach lover and raised her children at the beach, continuing a tradition her own mother had shared with her.

Those who knew Lanette knew her personality could fill any room. She was a firecracker; truly sassy, feisty, vibrant, and charismatic. She was hilarious, full of life, and a walking celebration. To know her was truly to know her, and she made sure she was never forgotten.

Lanette is survived by her mother, Lorita Garibaldi-Miller; her five children, Shamika LaNae, LaTia, Alisha, Angel, Nia and many children she loved and cared for, including Dominique and Jared; and her beloved grandchildren, Elijah, Bryce, Amani, Justin, Alana, Joseph, Madison, Madilyn, Lil Freddy, Noah, Isaiah, Aiden, and Levi. She is also survived by her siblings: Lisa, Meredith, Kimiko, Dino, Maurion, Ira, Kiana, Ira Jr., and Katherine, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends who loved her deeply.

Lanette was preceded in death by her father, Ira Booker; her beloved niece, Tamesha White; and numerous grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and surrounded by loved ones who went before her.

Lanette requested that there be no formal funeral service. In honoring her wishes, the family will host a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date, where friends and loved ones can come together to remember her, share stories, and celebrate the vibrant life she lived. Details will be announced when available.

Lanette Irene Booker will be remembered for her laughter, her strength, her vibrant spirit, and the love she poured into every meal, every conversation, and every person she held close. Her presence was larger than life, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
