Mrs. Lilian Kamala Benjamin, age 98, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 12, 1928, Lilian lived a remarkable life defined by kindness, strength, compassion, and dedication to others.

Lilian devoted more than 40 years of her life to education, serving as a beloved teacher in both Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. She touched the lives of countless students throughout her career, leaving a lasting impact through her patience, wisdom, and commitment to learning. Teaching was not simply her profession — it was her calling, and she carried that spirit of guidance and encouragement throughout her life.

Outside the classroom, Lilian found great joy in gardening. She lovingly cared for her plants and flowers, creating beauty wherever she lived. Her garden reflected the same qualities she brought to her family and community: nurturing, warmth, and quiet strength.

Lilian will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter, Priya Sanders; her son, Prasanna Benjamin; her son-in-law, Michael Sanders; her granddaughter, Dr. Stephanie Sanders; her grandson-in-law, Aneel Kelly; and her brother, Stanley Weerasinghe, and her extended family and loved ones.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, education, and devotion to family.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

May she rest in eternal peace until the coming of Christ.
