Those who we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen and unheard always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear.

Luz María Sánchez-López was born on August 19, 1963 in Mexicali, B. C., Mexico to Hugo Sánchez Miramontes and Susana Sánchez Gómez. She came from a large family and was the third youngest of eleven children. She spoke of many fond memories growing up in Mexicali. These memories from her childhood she cherished most especially of the times her family would travel by train to Guadalajara.

As she became an adult she moved to Tijuana and got a job as an executive secretary at a major law firm in downtown Tijuana. While working there she met and fell madly in love with her soulmate. She eventually left her job of 20 years to start a new journey in San Diego, California. With her love by her side they had many wonderful adventures. She married her love and they were inseparable for 25 years.

Luz was very much a family oriented person. When she was younger she would watch her nieces and nephews and had a very close bond with them that carried through to their adulthood. Family was everything to her. Whether that was blood relatives or adopted family it didn’t matter to Luz. She lived a life full of love, honesty, empathy, kindness, compassion, integrity, grace, and devotion to the Lord. In November 2024 she was diagnosed with stage IV Cholangio/ Liver carcinoma. With an unwavering faith she fought that horrible disease. Her courage, tenacity, and positive outlook was a testament to what kind of person Luz was. On September 18, 2025 her battle ended. She was made whole again. She had been released and went to be with her family that preceded her in death. Her mother, father, a couple brothers, aunties, uncles, nephews, cousins, doggies, and kitty cats.

Somewhere over the rainbow way up high

There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true

Someday I’ll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me

Where troubles melt like lemon drops there way above the chimney tops that’s where you’ll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly

Birds fly over the rainbow why oh why can’t I

If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow in the sky then why oh why can’t I

She went to her rainbow and awaits for her wife to reunite with her. May you watch over us from above with your protection and unconditional love. I will meet you there mamita. Te Amo Un Chingo Mi Vida, Siempre!
