Obituary

Manuel Samora Barela Jr. was born on March 15, 1959, in Phoenix, Arizona. He passed away on June 23, 2026, in Glendale, Arizona. 

Manuel was a hardworking man who took great pride in his career. He worked for A.J. Bayless, where he achieved the remarkable accomplishment of becoming a Produce Manager while still a teenager—something he remained especially proud of. Around that same time, he became a father, a milestone that brought him great happiness.

Known for his funny, charming, and outgoing personality, Manuel had a way of making people laugh and feel welcome. He enjoyed boating, riding ATCs, buying and selling cars, and dancing. He also loved spending time with family and friends.

One of Manuel’s proudest personal accomplishments was paying off his home, a reflection of his determination and hard work. He hoped to be remembered as a kind and caring person who was always willing to help others whenever he could. 

Manuel is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Roman Villarreal; his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Larissa Barela; his son, Manuel Barela; his six grandchildren, Alysha, Cierra, Diego, Dillon, Roxanna, and Jason Jr; and his great-granddaughter, Amelia. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Jorge Morales; his brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Barbara Castenada, his brothers David Barela, and Eddie Terrell; and his nephews, Daniel, Jorge, Haston, and Joshua; and his nieces, Chelsey and Callie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Samora Barela Sr., and his mother, Maria Mirza Dagnino.

Manuel will be missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. His memory will live on through the love of his family and the many moments they shared together.

Services will be held privately with immediate family.
