Renton, Washington – Margaret “Peggy” Dowding 83, died August 16, 2026, at home.

She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 12, 1943, to Eugene and Margaret (June) Hoerth.  She grew up in Herried, South Dakota. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Wyoming.  She met her husband Edwin, “Ed”, in college, and they were married in Herreid, South Dakota.  She taught Home Economics before focusing on sewing.  She was a talented professional seamstress with private clients in Laramie, Wyoming, and Brookings, South Dakota.  After moving to Moscow, Idaho, in addition to her private clients, she also did the alterations for Creighton’s Clothing store until her retirement.  She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Moscow, Idaho and served as a deacon.  After retirement, she and Ed moved to Keizer, Oregon to be closer to family.  Margaret spent the last few years in Renton, Washington with her daughter and granddaughter.

Margaret was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Margaret is survived by her children, Margaret (Kirk) Larson of Amherst, New York; Nicole Dowding of Renton, Washington; and Joseph Dowding of Athol, Idaho; her sister Natalie Wisdahl of Longview, Washington, brother Shawn Hoerth of Boring, Oregon, and brother Glenn Hoerth of LaGrande, Oregon; and her grandchildren Abby and Aaron Larson, and Sophie Dowding.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin Dowding, her parents Eugene and Margaret Hoerth, her sister Jene Webster, and brother Douglas Hoerth.
