Maria Elena Meza passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, of natural causes. She was born on May 22, 1927, in Guatemala.

Maria dedicated her life to caring for others, both through her work as a nurse aide and in her everyday life. She loved her son and her family deeply, and spending time with family and friends brought her great joy. She also enjoyed cooking for others, gardening, sewing, sharing a good joke, and always lending a helping hand.

She was known for her smile that could light up a room. Generous, thoughtful, and caring, Maria opened her heart and home to anyone in need. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many.

One of Maria's greatest accomplishments was the life she built after immigrating to the United States. As a single working mother in Los Angeles, she worked hard to provide for her only son. Later in life, she was diagnosed with glaucoma and lost her eyesight, but she refused to let it define her. She continued to live with strength, faith, and a positive outlook, sharing her love and encouragement with everyone around her.

Maria would want to be remembered for her heart of gold and the love she gave so freely to others.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Griffith Park Visitor Center Auditorium, 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90027.

She will be deeply loved, forever missed, and always remembered.
