Michael Hemingway passed away January 20, 2026 at Kaiser Med Ctr in Riverside from complications of lung disease. Michael was born Aug 12, 1953, the 6th child of Bernie and Jean Hemingway in Phoenix AZ. The family moved to Long Beach, CA in 1964 where he graduated from Lakewood High School in 1971.
Michael spent some time with the US Army in Germany and lived at times in Manitowoc WI, Memphis TN, and South Haven MS. Most recently he had been living in San Bernardino CA.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Amber Delgado of Mississippi, 3 grandchildren, sisters Judi Robinson, Ginger Hemingway, and Anne Marie Lechuga. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Andy Hemingway and Bernie Hemingway Jr, sister Patricia Kirkhart and daughter Cathy Hemingway.
Michael was a loving man and wanderer. May he be at peace now.
No services are planned. We will take him on a road trip and scatter his remains along the way so his spirit can continue wandering.
