Patricia Anne Ashe, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Surrounded by her family, she peacefully entered her heavenly home following a battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born on August 23, 1942, in Brevard, NC, to the late William Elwert “Rusty” Smith and Julia Virginia Clayton Smith Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her stepdad, Chester Fisher; her husband of 59 years, James J. Ashe; her oldest son, J. Barry Ashe; her youngest son, Tracy D. Ashe; her sister, Dorothy Jean Aiken; and her brother, Charles “Hardrock” Smith.
She leaves behind her son, Terry Lee Ashe (Vickie), and her daughter, Sonya Ashe Smith (Alan), as well as 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, she was known for her warmth, humor, kindness, godliness, and servant-like spirit. She trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1963 and claimed Galatians 2:20 as her favorite Bible verse. She sacrificially gave of herself in her role as Pastor’s wife, mom, as well as grandma “Gammy Girl” to her children and grandchildren. She was known to many as “Mrs. Pat” and had an incredible impact on the lives of many through her life of service. Her favorite thing to say when she encountered an obstacle in life was: “but God!” as she always gave Him the glory in every circumstance.
No words can encapsulate her loving personality, positive spirit, and Christian testimony, but for those who have known her here on this earth, she will forever be remembered.
This is not a sad “Good-bye” but a joyful promise to “See you later on the other side!”
