Patrick William Rich was born on December 8, 1959, in Culver City, California, and passed away on February 15, 2026, in Los Angeles, California 90064, due to cancer.
As a young boy, Patrick played little league baseball and was very fond of BMX biking between the ages of 8 and 10. He later moved on to motorcycle dirt biking in the desert at Red Rock Canyon, Kelso Valley, and Lancaster with neighbors from Mar Vista. In the 1970s, he loved skateboarding in abandoned pools in Bel Air with a group of friends from Venice.
Patrick worked in the construction business for many years in various trades, including painting, carpentry, and remodeling. When he was younger, he even tried his hand as a lumberjack.
He was a high-energy, very independent kind of guy. He loved to weave witty humor into conversations to lighten the moment and was especially good at using a clever play on words.
Later in life, from about 2010 to 2015, he tried his hand at beekeeping, which he was very proud of. He took great pride in gardening and helped a friend in Santa Monica tend her garden. He also took classes in gathering wild edible plants and herbs. His trip to Brazil in 2005–2006 was especially memorable. He kept great photos of time spent with friends at the beaches and of his rafting trip on the Iguazu River rapids, where Capitano Joseph allowed him to guide the boat for about three-quarters of an hour downriver at the legendary Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil.
Patrick was incredibly strong, both mentally and physically, with endurance beyond anyone who knew him. He had a deep love for his Irish ancestry and was very proud of his Irish culture .He read and had many books on Irish history. He had a love of Nature and a conviction that the Earth should be protected.
He is survived by his sisters, Josette Rich and Kerry Rich.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Rich; his father, William Rich; and his brother, Duane Rich.
Memorial services will be decided in late spring or early summer in Orange County, California.
