Paula Marie Desousa

Paula Marie DeSousa passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2026, in Huntington Beach, California. She was born on January 15, 1958 in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Azores.

Paula worked in furniture sales for many years before her retirement. She was deeply devoted to her husband, John, and found great purpose in caring for him as his caregiver. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found comfort in attending church.

Paula was known for her warm and friendly nature. She never hesitated to strike up a conversation and had a way of making those around her feel welcome. During the many years she lived in Huntington Beach, she formed lasting friendships.

She is survived by her beloved husband, John Gonsalves; her mother, Maria C. DeSousa; her brothers, Louie DeSousa and John DeSousa; her sisters, Louise Camara and her husband, Lino, and Anna Stuart and her husband, George; her nephews, Nathan Camara and George Stuart IV; her nieces, Marisa Camara, Chloe DeSousa, and Jacquelyn Stuart; and her great-nephew and great-niece, Christian and Rhea.

Paula was preceded in death by her father, Manuel E. DeSousa.

In accordance with her wishes, Paula was cremated, and no formal service will be held.

Paula will be remembered with love by her family, friends, and all whose lives were made brighter by her kindness and caring heart.
