Phoebe Ann Balsky, 80, passed away in June 2026 after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born and raised in New York City, Phoebe carried with her that characteristic resilience and spirited attitude towards life. She dedicated her professional life to helping others as a social worker, offering guidance and support to countless families over the course of her career.

Phoebe was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Stanley Balsky, with whom she built a life centered on love and family. She is survived by her daughters, Tanya Balsky and Sonia Balsky; her cherished grandchildren, Henry and Colin Hocherman; her sister, Fern Friedman; and many beloved extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

A lover of the arts, Phoebe found boundless joy in creativity and culture, and she delighted in sharing these experiences with those around her. One of her greatest pleasures at home was gathering friends and family to a table full of food home cooked with love and lively conversation.

Phoebe was known for having a saying for every occasion, many inherited from her grandmother and often delivered with a touch of Yiddish wisdom. Whether offering encouragement, perspective, or humor, her well-timed expressions were passed down as part of the fabric of life and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the memories she created, and the love she shared so freely.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
