Phyllis Sue Stanley, age 73, of Hemet, California, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 26, 2026, in Ontario, California.

Born in Illinois on November 4, 1952, Phyllis was the cherished daughter of Darrell and Betty Nelson. As a young woman, she moved to Chino, California, where she spent most of her life planting deep roots in the surrounding communities. In 1990, Phyllis met the love of her life, Larry Stanley. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising Phyllis's three children and later opening their hearts to raise their grandson, Jacob, as their very own.

Phyllis was a dedicated and familiar face at the San Jacinto Unified School District, where she poured her heart into the food service department for many years until her retirement in 2017. Outside of work, she found immense joy in the simple, beautiful things in life. She loved camping, fishing, watching birds, and taking long, quiet drives to admire the natural scenery around her.

Above all else, Phyllis adored her family. Her daughter was her "little princess," and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her ultimate pride and joy. Phyllis's entire face would light up whenever they walked into the room, and she never missed a chance to show how incredibly proud she was of each of them.

Her final two weeks were spent in the gentle care of Miriam Long at Sea Breeze Homes of Eastvale, with St. Anthony’s Hospice, where she was loved on, prayed over, and comforted by amazing, godly women. In her final moments on earth, she was held tight in the arms of her daughter as Jesus welcomed her home.

Phyllis is lovingly remembered and survived by her sister, Marsha (Bruce) Hocking; her daughter, Melissa Devries; her grandchildren, Jacob (Grace) Thompson, Jordan White, Dustin Devries, Hailey (Branden) Douglass, Owen Devries, Faith Devries, and Sydnie Gapper; her great-grandchildren, Mia Hughes, Freddie Thompson, and her newest blessing, Colton Douglass.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal funeral services are planned. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in memory of Phyllis to the organizations that provided her with such exceptional care and comfort:
