Obituary

Ramon Ricardo Leano passed away on August 10, 2026, in Chula Vista, California, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 9, 1950, in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico.

Ricardo worked as a construction foreman and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to share his knowledge with others. He had a passion for teaching, serving as a swimming coach, automotive teacher, and building instructor. His children will always remember the lessons he taught them, especially the nightly math lessons around the blackboard.

Family was at the center of Ricardo's life. Weekend getaways with loved ones were always a priority, whether it was a trip to Los Angeles, the beaches of Rosarito, or his favorite destination, La Bufadora in Ensenada. He also enjoyed taking his family to Tijuana to share street-style tacos and create lasting memories together.

Ricardo was known for his wonderful sense of humor, which remained with him throughout his life. At family gatherings and celebrations, he was affectionately known as the "Compadre" because he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He never missed an opportunity to help others, especially those in need, and he was always eager to teach and encourage those around him.

To his wife, Sonia, Ricardo was a devoted partner who lovingly embraced the role of father figure to their children, nieces, and nephews. She will forever cherish the care and tenderness he showed her, especially during her pregnancies, when he made sure she and their growing family were always cared for with love, often beginning her day with breakfast in bed.

Ricardo is survived by his beloved wife, Sonia; his daughters, Anna, Elva, Sonia, and Gabriela; his sons, Ramon, Francisco, and Pedro; his sister, Rosita; his brother, José Luis; 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two expected great-grandchildren.

Ricardo's kindness, generosity, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

As Ricardo would always say, "See you later, alligator."
