Obituary

Richard Ellingson was born on January 22, 1947, in Benson, Minnesota, and passed away on September 24, 2026, in Denton, Texas, after cardiac arrest.

Richard was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing the trumpet for the Minnesota State Band, fishing, going to the casino, watching movies, and playing poker. He worked in plastics injection molding.

Richard was proud of spending time with his family and enjoyed the time they shared together. He will be remembered as a generous and funny man who loved his family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Aleida Ellingson; daughters Lisa Smith, Laura Stratton and her husband Dennis Stratton, and Cathy Mead and her husband Craig Mead; sons Richard Ellingson Jr. and his wife Joy Ellingson, and Mike Giccatti; grandchildren Andrew Ellingson, Derrick Smith, Audrina Ellingson, Alex Ring, Michael Giccatti V, Candice McCullough, Kristopher Giccatti, April Giccatti, Joshua Giccatti, Mika Giccatti, Amanda Poff, and Jessica Anderson; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Ellingson; mother, Doris Loen; stepfather, Lloyd Loen; brother, Lynn Loen; sisters, Sonja Bankovich and Debbie Treloar; and grandson, Matthew Ring.

Richard will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
