With heavy hearts we mourn the passing of our brother, RICHARD DUANE TETER, on January 24, 2026.  Richard was born on July 15, 1953 in Bartley, Nebraska, the third son of Donald Earl Teter and Delma Goldene Teter, both of whom preceded Richard in death on December 26, 2015 and August 30, 2016, respectively.  His oldest brother, Frederick Earl Teter, also preceded him in death on October 7, 2005.  He has two surviving brothers, Eric Dean Teter and Kevin James Teter, and a surviving sister, Shelley Teter Quatruopolo, along with nieces and nephews and great nieces and one great nephew.

Richard was a graduate of Lake Highland High School in Dallas, Texas in 1971, where he played baseball and football.  He maintained friendships with his high school buddies throughout his life.  After graduating high school, he attended college for a short time before leaving school to work in his father’s retail business.

Years later he worked in his father’s construction business before branching out on his own to have his own tile installation business.

Richard was an adventurer, he loved hang gliding in his younger years, camping and being outdoors.  He especially loved the beach, sailing and wind surfing.  He lived for several years in California, St. Thomas - Virgin Islands, and Costa Rico.  A diehard Cowboy fan, he’d text his friend, Randy Hauck, on the east coast, and his friend, Gigi Anderson, on the west coast every Sunday during football season asking if they were ready for some football.  When the Cowboys won, he’d send out the text “Go Cowboys!”  Richard was a dreamer at heart.  He suffered a triple bypass four years ago which severely impacted his overall health and he lamented his inability to do all the things he really loved to do.

So, although our hearts are heavy with his loss, he is finally set free and we pray he’s now hanging gliding through the universe, free as a bird and at peace.
