Richard E. Lillie passed away on July 20, 2026, in Palm Springs, California, from frontotemporal dementia (FTD). He was born on May 4, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Richard received his Masters of Accounting Science and Doctor in Education from Northern Illinois University. He built a distinguished career as a professor of accountancy at several universities and retired as a Professor Emeritus from California State University, San Bernardino. He was also a partner with his husband in the firm of Andersen & Lillie, CPA’s in both Chicago and Palm Springs.

Outside of work, Richard loved spending time with our dogs and enjoyed traveling in our RV. We traveled through many states sampling craft beers along the trips. These simple pleasures brought him happiness and allowed him to create many wonderful memories.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Geraldine Lillie. He is survived by his husband, Russ Andersen; his brother, Dwight Lillie; and his sister, Beth Correll.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.

Richard will be remembered with love by his family and friends, and his memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
