With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rita Reed on August 18, 2026, in Torrance, California, at the age of 90. Born on January 19, 1936, in Canton, Ohio.

Rita found joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a special love for tomatoes and spaghetti, a favorite that always brought a smile to her face. She also loved watching old Western movies and enjoyed going to the dances at Meyers Lake in Canton, Ohio, where she made many happy memories. Her favorite saying, "Thanks a million," became one of the many little things her family will always remember with a smile. Those who knew her will remember her gentle nature and the warmth she shared with those around her. Her dear friend, Josie, held a special place in her heart.

Throughout her career, Rita worked as a secretary for Hoover Vacuums before serving in an administrative position at Orion Pictures. She approached her work with dedication and dependability.

Rita is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Susan Koenig, Deborah Moelter, and Paula Mandel, who will forever cherish her memory and the love she shared with them.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Reed and Ed Matveld, as well as her parents, Bernice McDonald and Orland McDonald.

Rita's quiet strength and kind heart will be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
