Robert C. Fietsam Jr., 73, of Los Angeles, California, born February 23, 1953, in Belleville, Illinois, passed away on June 18, 2026, in California.

Robert proudly served as President and Treasurer of the St. Clair County Historical Society and was co-author of Belleville 1814-1914, leaving a lasting contribution to the history of his hometown. He earned his CPA, following in his father's footsteps.

He loved sports cars, and California held a special place in his heart where he enjoyed the ocean and boating. Music was one of his greatest joys, and he loved playing guitar, singing, and performing.

Above all, Robert loved his family. He leaves behind cherished memories and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Fietsam Sr. and Miriam Fietsam (née Runkwitz); and his grandparents, Celsus J. and Viola E. Fietsam, and Erwin H. and Georgana Runkwitz.

Surviving are his siblings, Guy (Gail) Fietsam, Nancy Burton (Rob Gjerswald), and Lisa Fietsam; nieces and nephews, Khara (Steven) Mohr, Krystal (Jason) Winter, Grace Fietsam (Justin Wolf), and Christopher Fietsam; great nephews, Emmitt Mohr and Trey Winter; great niece, Madilynn Mohr; and many uncles, aunts, family, and friends.

Robert's ashes will be scattered at sea off the California coast, with a portion interred at the Engelmann Cemetery in Shiloh, Illinois. A private burial will take place at a later date.

The Engelmann Cemetery Association is a 501(c)(13) tax-deductible organization. Contributions will help support the preservation and care of the private Engelmann family cemetery, a place that held special meaning to Robert and his family.
