Robert H. Humphries passed away on June 1, 2026, in Sugar Land, Texas, after living with dementia. He was born on November 30, 1959, in Cranford, New Jersey.
Robert served as an Associate Chief Counsel for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security. Outside of work, he enjoyed golfing, playing poker, painting, drawing, and cooking.
He was known for his intelligence, well-developed sense of humor, and even, sunny temperament. He devoted 47 of the best years of his life to his beloved wife, Cynthia. He adored cats and lived happily amongst them for 37 years.
Among his proudest accomplishments were graduating with honors from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1989, being admitted to the bar of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and being admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court.
Robert would like to be remembered for his constant faith and abiding love for his wife, as well as for the lasting friendships he shared with his Lambda Chi fraternity brothers and his law school friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Humphries; his sister, Pamela Garcia Humphries; and his brother, William B. Humphries.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Humphries; his mother, Patsy Humphries; and his brother, Donald Leroy Humphries.
Robert will be remembered with love by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
