Robert was surrounded by family when he lost his battle with cancer.

Robert was athletic and played Little League baseball throughout his childhood and teenage years. He also played football in junior high and high school, where he was known for being strong and confident.

Robert was a musician. In high school, he was in a rock-and-roll band with friends from the neighborhood. He was a very talented guitar player, but he especially enjoyed being the lead vocalist, singing rock songs from the 1970s.

He developed a love for surfing during high school, and after a couple of years of college, he moved to Huntington Beach, California, with some friends. They worked jobs to pay rent for their apartment down the street from the beach, and for the next four years, life was all about surfing.

Robert later moved back to Texas and eventually became involved in martial arts, where he achieved black belt status. He loved demonstrating his skills to friends and enjoyed showing how he could block almost any punch attempted. He could inflict enough pain with his blocks without ever throwing a punch.

Like all of the Duecker boys, Robert went to work for his father at Duecker Rubber Service, where he would eventually become co-owner and Vice President.

While still in his 20s, he purchased a used Winnebago affectionately called the “Bubbabago.” Many fun trips were taken in it, including adventures to South Padre Island and all the way back to California.

His love for surfing also took him and his buddies to Costa Rica many times during his younger bachelor days.

Robert married in his 30s and was incredibly proud of his beautiful daughter, Mary Duecker. Along with his blue eyes, Mary inherited her father’s musical talent. Robert also loved his stepson, Mason Koska, and because his faith was so important to him, he had Mason baptized as a teenager.

His musical talent continued to flourish through his faith as a member of the praise and worship team at his church.

Robert achieved great success in his professional career, traveling the country and providing specialty rubber belting products to the concrete and steel industries.

Later, Robert met Michelle and married the woman he fell in love with in Costa Rica, bringing her back to Texas. He and Michelle loved the life they shared together at their country estate south of Houston.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Duecker; his daughter, Mary Duecker; and his brothers, Bill Duecker and Paul Duecker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margie Duecker.
