Obituary

Sergio Paulo Da Fonseca died on May 26, 2026, in Long Beach, CA at the young age of 53, following a prolonged illness. "Serg" was born in Taunton, Mass. to Branca Fonseca and the late Gaspar Fonseca. Sergio was the baby brother of three sisters.

Upon graduating from Taunton High School in 1991, Serg moved to California to reside in San Jose with his father and late stepmother, Felicidade. He attended college in California and went on to work in the financial sector for most of his life. After many moves around SoCal, Serg made a home in Long Beach. For more than two decades, he was an analyst for City National Bank in Los Angeles.

Other than his mother, Sergio is survived by his sisters, Zita Cambra, Alvarina (Allen) Adams, and Nellie (Ray) Soito. He was a wonderful uncle (TT) to Cloee Cambra, Alexis Adams, Adrianna Adams, Brian Soito, and Jason (Jen) Soito. He is also survived by his cousins and great nephews & nieces.

Sergio's sense of humor, easy-going nature, and kindness magnetized people to him. He could make your belly ache with laughter. It was this quality that endeared him to others and made them want to be around him. He loved music and held that it could transport, heal, and uplift him. He had an uncanny ability to remember his favorite one-liners from movie classics.

Sergio's countless friends and "found family" played a pivotal role in his life. He especially cherished his time spent in Taunton & Falmouth with the late Joan and David Fernandes and their children. He cherished the comfort and joy their home provided, and he carried those fond memories throughout his lifetime.

Serg was sick for a long time, but never lost his kindness, his desire to make others laugh, and his hope to have more time and to live a pain-free life.

Serg will live on through those who knew and loved him best. Our memories and stories will help heal the immense hole his absence will forever leave in our hearts and lives.

A Celebration of Life will take place in California on July 11, 2027 (details to be determined).
