Shirlean Mae Derego passed away on October 13, 2025, in Huntington Beach, California, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 11, 1962, in Stanton, California.

Shirlean loved the beach, as her parents were both from Hawaii, and she carried the Hawaiian spirit of love, strength, and joy throughout her life. She loved all things Hawaiian and found peace and happiness near the ocean. She enjoyed traveling and making memories with her daughters, rollerblading along the boardwalk, skiing, hiking, and camping. Shirlean had a special gift for making every holiday and birthday magical for those she loved.

A devoted mother, Shirlean always put her daughters first, raising them with love, courage, and faith. She was a wonderful hairstylist who used her creativity to make others feel beautiful and confident. Her passion for her craft showed in every style she created, and her kindness made her clients and friends feel valued. Music, dancing, watching movies, and attending the airshow were among the many things she enjoyed.

Those who knew Shirlean will remember her as a strong and courageous woman, full of life and laughter. She was known for her fierce love, her wonderful sense of humor, and her ability to light up any room she entered. Through every challenge, she remained determined and faithful, teaching those around her what it means to be brave and to lean on the Lord for strength.

Shirlean’s greatest blessings were her three beautiful daughters, Faith Spaulding, Chloe Deslauries, and Brittney Escobosa. She loved traveling with them, celebrating life’s moments, and creating memories that will last forever. She was deeply proud of graduating from both cosmetology and modeling school and for balancing her career with motherhood and marriage. A dedicated and hardworking woman, she always strived to give her best in all she did.

She is survived by her daughters Brittney Escobosa, Chloe Deslauries and Faith Spaulding. She was preceded in death by her mother Aleta Allen, father George Derego, stepfather Fred Allen, brothers George and Paul Derego, and sister Mary Derego.

Shirlean will be remembered for her smile, her laughter, and her fearless spirit. Even through her battle with cancer, she continued to show love and bring joy to those around her. Her courage, humor, and strength will continue to inspire her family and friends.

Memorial service details will be determined at a later date.
