It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Thomas Schlothauer (Tom). His kindness and friendliness touched the lives of many who knew him. While words cannot fully express the depth of Tom's passing, we come together to celebrate a life marked by enthusiasm, generosity, and unwavering concern for his family and friends.
Early Life and Education
Thomas was the first-born child of Alvin and Alma Schlothauer who preceded him in death. He grew up in a small town in Northern Colorado, surrounded by cherished traditions and enduring friendships. Tom genuinely enjoyed the company of his cousins and friends, fostering bonds that lasted throughout his life. After graduating from Windsor High School, Tom attended Colorado
State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was a dedicated college baseball player for four years and served as team captain during his senior year. Tom graduated from CSU with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1965.
Professional Life
Following his time at CSU, Tom attended the University of Santa Clara law school. He received his law degree from the University of Santa Clara, joined the California Bar, and spent more than forty years practicing law in Los Angeles, California. Tom built lasting friendships throughout his career that continued until his death. Those who knew him remember his sense of competitiveness, his intellect, unwavering friendship, and steadfast commitment to family and friends.
Legacy and Remembrance
Tom's legacy is one of selfless service, quiet strength, and enduring devotion to those he cared for. His brother Dave, his sister Mary Kay, his son Jonah, four nieces and nephews, former wife Wendy, and many friends whose lives he improved all remember him fondly. We find comfort in the memories we share, carrying his spirit with us always. An event to honor Thomas's memory is being organized, inviting everyone who would like to celebrate his life and pay their respects.
We take comfort knowing that Tom is with Jesus, and may his memory be a lasting blessing to all.
